‘We accept multi-currency toll fees payments’, says Zinara
Harare- ZIMBABWE National Road Authority (Zinara) has categorically stated that they subscribe to the multi-currency system in the receipt of toll fees payments, Express Mail Zim can report.
Zinara said they are obliged to Statutory Unit 32 of 2021 which propounds such.
“Kindly note that as Zinara we don’t have such a position.
“Toll fees are payable in both foreign currency and ZWL for locally registered vehicles,” said Zinara in a statement released Wednesday.
This follows earlier social media reports that motorists at Kadoma tollgate were said to have been stranded with isolation of one officer identified as Chirara demanding payment in United States dollars.
“In any organisation there are excitable and overzealous characters who do not comprehend policy issues swiftly and this might have been the matter in this case.
“Human resources and compliance are seized with the matter and investigations have been instituted as we speak, we treat the character in question fairly on the principle of presumption of innocence, ” explained a senior manager who preffered anonymity for fear of reprisal.
