Featherston- Zvikomborero Farm in Zimbabwe located at Featherstone, a few kilometers out of Harare will on Friday, 28 March 2025 host a free livestock field day to afford farmers and other key stakeholders to learn and connect to improve livestock management.
According to the programme, the field day will be packed with practical demonstrations, expert advice and valuable networking opportunities.
The farm is partnering with other companies and organizations in agriculture and livestock farming like Fivet, Kurima, Lanforce Energy, Gain Farmer, Agri-Milling, Kurima Centre, Feedmix, ZB, Seed-Co, First Capital, Bonvie, Novafeed, Bain and AFC to host the field day.
Zvikomborero Farm, is owned by renowned Zimbabwean businesswoman Divine Ndhlukula, is an exemplary model of agri-business excellence and in located 120km south of Harare in Featherstone, Hampshire Area, Chikomba District.
The farm sits on freehold title land.
Divine Ndhlukula acquired the farm in 1992, and since then, it has grown into an integrated agri-business engaging in various farming activities, including crop farming, cattle farming, goat farming, poultry, piggery, and feed formulation.
Key features and products at the farm include Zviko Tuli Stud. A stud farm for Tuli cattle, School of Farming Excellence.
A training school providing practical skills and knowledge on farming as a business.
Zvikomborero also does poultry products like eggs.
They also have Zviko Boer and Kalahari Stud.
A stud farm for Boer and Kalahari Red goats.
Livestock products include Zviko Boran Stud.
A stud farm for Boran cattle.
Zvikomborero Feeds produces specialized stock for goats.
The farm boasts an impressive online presence, with a well-designed website showcasing its products and services. They also have an online shop, allowing customers to purchase products directly.
Divine Ndhlukula’s vision for Zvikomborero Farm is to become a model of a Centre of Farming Excellence (CoFE), implementing best practices in breeding, processing and marketing.
The initiative has received significant support under the Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme (ZAGP) and the goat breed scheme.
Key support initiatives include
Goat Breeding Stock Importation. The project imported goat breeding stock from Namibia, which was delivered to Matopos Research Station, Zvikomborero Farms, and Michview Enterprises. The move aims to make improved goat genetics (F1s, F2s & F3s) available to goat producers via these institutions.
Value Chain Alliance for Livestock Upgrading Empowerment (VALUE). The ZAGP project supports the VALUE program, which focuses on improving the capacity of smallholder farmers, especially women and youths, to enhance their goat and pig breeds. The programme also aims to mobilize farmers to access viable markets and improve production and organizational efficiencies in partnership with private sector livestock players.
Partnerships and Collaborations. The initiative has partnered with various organizations, including ActionAid Zimbabwe, Mercy Corps, COSV, and private sector players like Zvikomborero Farm, to implement the project.
