ZMF complements HCC efforts to spruce up Rufaro Stadium
The initiative by ZMF is a welcome development as it not only beautifies the stadium but also contributes to the economic development of the surrounding community
Harare- IN line with its corporate social responsibility campaign (CSR,) the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) has embarked on several projects to spruce up Rufaro Stadium and the development has aided in employment creation for Mbare residents.
ZMF uses its Special Purpose vehicle called FS Pvt Ltd in the project implementation.
ZMF has opened up kiosks and food stalls at the stadium and employs residents from Mbare.
They have also embarked on a clean up campaign to curb the cholera scourge.
Express Mail Zim caught up with ZMF chief executive Wellington Takavarasha during a tour of the stadium Friday and he was in a bullish mood.
“Well, as part of our CSR campaign we decided to complement efforts made by council and we built food stalls and cleaned up the whole stadium ensuring that portable water is available to residents to fight cholera.
“A lot of jobs have been created in the proccess and we believe football stadiums should serve as a one stop shop during the week adopting international standards.
“Look at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, it is home to various activities midweek and they are the largest UEFA Euro 2024 venue so we are adopting and adapting,” said Takavarasha.
ZMF has no finacial benefits in the projects but merely giving back to society as a beneficiary of the vast mineral resources in the country.
ZMF president Henrieta Rushwaya reffered all questions to Takavarasha whom she delegated to supritend the CSR project.
The initiative by ZMF is a welcome development as it not only beautifies the stadium but also contributes to the economic development of the surrounding community.
“By creating employment opportunities for Mbare residents and promoting cleanliness in the area, ZMF is setting a good example for other organizations to follow in terms of corporate social responsibility.
“It is also heartening to see the efforts to tackle the cholera scourge, as clean water is a basic necessity for all individuals. By providing access to clean water at the stadium, ZMF is contributing to public health and safety in the community,” said a local councillor Boss Dhama.
