ZimTrade Prepares for Annual Zimbabwe Exporters Week
ZimTrade, Zimbabwe’s national trade development and promotion agency, is preparing for its annual Zimbabwe Exporters Week, a key event aimed at boosting the country’s export growth.
Scheduled for October 14-18, 2024, in Bulawayo, the week will feature a dynamic program that includes workshops, exhibitions, seminars, networking opportunities, and insightful company visits.
This event aligns with ZimTrade’s mission to enhance Zimbabwean exports in various markets by creating networks and opportunities at trade fairs worldwide. The week will kick off with a digital skills training session on October 15, in collaboration with Google Africa. This training is intended to equip youth and female-led businesses with the knowledge and tools to leverage digital platforms for business expansion.
A significant highlight of the event will be the Buyers Shop at the Zim Seminar, which will connect local businesses with international buyers, creating potential export opportunities in different markets. Buyers from countries including Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Namibia, and the UK are expected to attend.

The Exporters Conference and Awards, the main feature of the week, will take place on October 17 under the theme “Qala, Tanga, Start.” President Mnangagwa will be the guest of honor, offering insights into the government’s vision for export-led growth and the support measures in place for Zimbabwean businesses.
Industry experts, policymakers, and business leaders will gather to discuss strategies for increasing exports, aiming for a national target of US$7 billion by 2023 and US$14 billion by 2030. The event will also provide opportunities for local exporters to engage in business-to-business meetings with regional and international buyers.
Dr. Kupukile Mlambo, ZimTrade’s chairman, noted that the rebranding of the event to Zimbabwe Exporters Week reflects its broader scope and focus. “We have extended the event to a full week to allow for deeper discussions and exploration of export opportunities,” he explained.
Dr. Mlambo highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue, linkages, and partnerships among delegates and business leaders. “By addressing industry-specific challenges, we aim to develop actionable solutions that will enhance Zimbabwe’s export capacity. By working together, we can drive export growth and contribute to the country’s economic development,” he added.
