Zimstats appoints new DG

Harare – A new female substantive Director -General has been appointed to lead the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency ( ZIMSTAT).

ZIMSTAT Board of Directors in accordance with Section 9 of the Census and Statistics Act ( Cap 10:29) and section 17 of the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act ( Cap 10:31) appointed Mrs Tafadzwa Martia Bandama as the new Director-General of ZIMSTAT.
According to the board,Mrs Bandama is a seasoned economist with a specialisation in macroeconomics.

The board said that her expertise encompasses statistics, central banking,policy analysis and data-driven insights.

They added that prior to her appointment,Mrs Bandama held key positions at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries ( CZI) and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s office.

The board added that her professional journey is marked by significant contributions to the field of economics including successful direction of ZIMSTAT’s macroeconomic statistics production during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic period, according to J.Mafararikwa, ZIMSTAT Board Chairman.
