Zim has got talent :Chris Brown ropes in local producer on latest project
Los Angeles- AWARD winning American musician Chris Brown has roped in the Midas touch of Zimbabwe born producer Daecolm in his latest project , Express Mail Zim has learnt.
Titled “It’s giving Christmas”, the song has already received rave reviews on You Tube, three days after it’s release last week.
This is not the first time the two have worked together ,in 2017 he produced several tracks on Breezy’s album titled “Heartbreak on a Full Moon”.
True to the old adage that prophets are not celebrated in their own homes, Daelcolm has flown the country’s flag high having worked with the creme-dela-creme of RnB artistes including Mario and also Major League.
The media shy producer was born in Zimbabwe and moved to South West London when he was six months old.
He grew fond of music due to the influence from his father.
“By the age of 14 I had taught myself how to play the Piano and Guitar.
“I them began songwriting and recording my own music.,” he said .
At the age of 15, he moved with his family to New Zealand and lived there for five years before relocating to Los Angeles where he is based.
In 2016, he signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV.
His decorated career include working with artists such as Avelino, Shift K3Y, Labrinth, Mario , Trey Songz and Craig David among others
In May 2017, he uploaded a video of himself singing a refixed version of Dancing Queen by ABBA.
The video documented the steps on how he reworked the production and recorded the vocals.
It went viral on Facebook gaining 21 million views within a few days.
The video caught the attention of representatives at Polydor Records and he signed a single deal and released the full version of Dancing Queen in July 2017.
It has since received over 30million views on Facebook and it also went viral on Spotify in 20 different countries.
Daelcolm is not the only unsung hero raising the country’s flag on the global musical stage.
Tawanda Sibotshiwe aka Jusa Dementor has produced for several Jamaican artistes including Red Rat.
We also have Brian Soko who has worked with Grammy award winning Beyonce Knowles- Carter.
Chitungwiza bred Major Mockery Kadzinga has produced for several Jamaican artistes.
Recently , another producer DJ Quazor also produced for Jamaican star Turbulence and Rasan.
Unfortunately, the government has not done much to invest in the arts sector which can be a major contributor to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
