ZANU PF chef Obert Mpofu leads high-powered delegation to BRICS political party dialogue in South Africa

South Africa-ZANU PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu this week led a high-powered delegation to the BRICS Political Party Dialogue in South Africa.

The conference, held under the theme “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism,” hosted 41 countries with the aim to foster closer ties and dialogue between political entities in BRICS nations and Africa.

BRICS, an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, represents an influential coalition of emerging economies that have exhibited significant growth and influence on the global stage.

As the world becomes more interconnected, such collaborations become essential to achieve sustainable development, address global challenges, and promote inclusive multilateralism.

The BRICS Political Party Dialogue was an opportunity for political leaders, diplomats, and experts from BRICS member countries and African nations to exchange ideas, formulate strategies, and build partnerships that will enhance mutual growth and development.

The President of Zimbabwe His Excellency Dr. E.D Mnangagwa has implemented a strong re-engagement policy that is anchored on a philosophy that says Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none.

Mpofu led a delegation that included retired Major General Engelbert Rugeje among others.

Mpofu’s participation in leading this high-powered delegation underscores Zimbabwe’s commitment to engaging with global powers and fostering fruitful collaborations that can positively impact African development. As the Secretary General, Mpofu has been instrumental in promoting Zimbabwe’s political and foreign policy objectives and expanding the party’s relations with various countries and political parties.

The theme of this dialogue, ‘Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism,’ encapsulates the shared goals of BRICS and Africa. It highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts and the need for inclusive approaches to promote economic prosperity and address socio-economic challenges across the continent.

Mpofu and his delegation had a chance to network and interact with political leaders , business leaders and other global players.
