Zacc hunts Nssa boss Murewa who frets over corruption allegations

Harare- Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (Zacc) is hunting for National Social Security Authority’s (NSSA) Investments Director, Brian Murewa who is a person of interest amid fraud and corruption allegations, Express Mail Zim has learnt.

Murewa- is under the microscope following his alleged shenanigans which were laid bare in a financial probe that exposed the siphoning of millions of dollars from the entity.

Murewa has is said to have ‘disappeared’ into thin air and impeccable sources say he skipped to Windhoek to evade the wheels of justice.

Windhoek has lately become a safe haven of high profile proffesionals who are caught offside through corruption and corporate governance violations.

South Africa has become ‘tricky’ through cemented cooperation between Harare and Pretoria’s law enforcement agents and corruption hawks.
Metbank boss Enock Kamushinda who allegedly plundered funds from SME bank, is one of the last high profile ‘fugitives’ to skip out of the country to Windhoek.

Zacc released a statement Wednesday confirming that Murewa is on the run.

“The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission in its ongoing Financial Investigations at NSSA is interested to interview Mr Brian Murewa (NSSA Investments Manager) to assist in the investigations.

“Anyone with information regarding the present whereabouts of Mr Brian Murewa to assist in advising him to contact ZACC Investigations Department on 0719529483 0242 369602/5/8/14.”

The seemingly media shy executive was suspended on allegations of corruption and fraud emanating from exposed scandalous acquisition of properties by the authority and he was known for his penchant for a luxurious lifestlye after inheriting the culture from previously embattled NSSA executives including flamboyant board chairperson Robin Vela who allegedly milked pensioners’ money without blinking.

He (Vela) recently had a legal showdown with Fabris over a US$300k debt which had twist and turns with impeccable sources revealing that it was a matter of sour grapes where Fabris assisted Vela to externalize forex in 2015.

Vela is wealthy through the benovelence of his multi millionaire brother in law who married his sister coupled with his sharp business acumen and risk taking attributes in the money market.

Most of the shenanigans were exposed in an audit report that was made public and Vela challenged the findings through the courts.
