Westprop set to revitalize neglected wetland to nature park

Move to promote the co-existence of nature with built-up spaces.

Harare – WESTPROP chief executive Ken Sharpe has Thursday outlined the company’s plans for the revitalization of a neglected wetland situated between the Pokugara and Millennium Heights lifestyle developments at Millennium Park in Borrowdale West.

He was prompted by the recent setbacks due to the sale of the land, but his company remains committed to converting the area into a thriving nature park, emphasizing environmental sustainability and the co-existence of nature with built-up spaces.

The company chief executive made the announcement Thursday.

“The $1 million project aims to re-engineer the wetland, reintroduce biodiversity and aquatic life, and create an eco-friendly tourism facility with amenities such as walkways, bicycle tracks, bird viewing sites, fishing, and canoeing facilities,” he said.

The development aligns with Westprop’s broader theme of ‘live, work, shop, and play,’ offering residents recreational opportunities within the gated community and contributing to the larger Zimbabwean community.
