Rudland said the documentary was injurious to his good name and Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit producer Alexander James neglected to gather any proof and the documentary was sensational.
Rudland urged Al Jazeera to retract and issue a public apology.
“I deny all allegations made against me concerning gold smuggling, money laundering or collusion with any government.
“The allegations are false and are made without any proof and the documentary is extremely sensational, this propoganda is injurious to my good name.
“I urge the Al Jazeera to retract their statements and issue a public apology.
” Notwithstanding this, I will in any event be instituting legal action against the media house for severe reputational harm caused,” said Rudland.
The doccie alleges existence of illicit gold dealings, money laundering among other illegal practices that implicates clergyman Uebert Angel ,gold dealer Ewan McMillan and Zimbabwe Mining Federation president Henrietta Rushwaya.
The doccie scandalises Zimbabwe ‘s gold mining value chain and Angel was secretly recorded claiming that he can use his diplomatic immunity to move cash.
