Transporters’ union ZUDAC kick out president Maguramhinga for alleged misappropiation of funds
Executive urges members of the public to exercise caution on individuals claiming to represent the organisation, especially if they are associated with Maguramhinga's splinter shadowy organisation
Harare- THE Zimbabwe Union of Drivers and Conductors (ZUDAC) have kicked out the organisation’s founding president Fredrick Maguramhinga for alleged misappropiation of funds and bullying , reports Express Mail Zim.
A vote of no confidence was recently passed against Maguramhinga and legal proceedings have been instituted against the founding president who allegedly flexed his muscles to fleece the organisation’s funds and boasted of strong political influence and convenient association with top cops.
In a statement , the ZUDAC secretary general only identified as B Katsande said the organisation had no option but to suspend Maguramhinga to uphold its vision of transparency and accountability.
“Serious allegations involving misappropiation of funds have been brought to our attention and in the intrest of intergrity, accountability and transparency we made a difficult decision to suspend him pending investigations and we are cooperating with the law enforcemeny agents,” wrote Katsande.
Express Mail Zim understands that the matter is sub judice and an undisclosed amount of money was misappropiated bleeding members’ subscriptions and forced control of lucrative routes.
The seemingly undeterrent Maguramhinga has already formed a splinter organisation.
His mobile phone went unanswered at the time of writing Tuesday.
ZUDAC executive however warned members of the public that ” no organizational business should be conducted through this individual(Maguramhinga).”
The executive further urged members to adhere to the organisation’s constitution and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
“Members of the public must exercise caution on individuals claiming to represent ZUDAC, especially if they are associated with Maguramhinga’s splinter organisation,” said an executive member.
Meanwhile, the transport sector has had a dark week following violent skirmishes that occured in Mutare and saw the arrest of transport mogul Isau Mupfumi who allegedly sponsored criminal gangs to pounce on his competitors.
Positive identification of one of his vehicles carrying the gangsters gave credence to the allegations.
He was granted USD1000 bail Monday.
