Tragic end to birthday celebs as boy (11) kills self

Murewa- In a shocking development a 11-year- old boy commited suicide after an altercation with his older brother on his birthday in Murewa last week ,Express Mail Zim has learnt .

The deceased Washington Musakwa had a minor altercation with his older brother Odius at their homestead in Dzimbasekwa Village , Nhakiwa in Murewa.

“Odius had a birthday and Washington then took charcoal and sprinkled it on his older brother to celebrate and tease him as they always do.

” Odius then told Washy that it was enough but he kept on sprinkling him and a fist fight ensued.
“Their mother came through to calm them down and that is when Washy stormed out and headed Southwards where he hung himself on a tree by the roadside,” narrated a distraught neighbour.

Washington ‘s lifeless body was discovered by his older brother after their mother had ordered him to look for him.

It was revealed that the deceased juvenile was short tempered and was in the habit of hiding in the mountains everytime his mother warned him to desist from misbehaviour.

His lifeless body was ferried to Murewa hospital where a post mortem was supposed to be conducted.

“Police and homicide officers came and took the body but we hear that no post mortem was conducted,” said the neighbour.

Zanu PF councilor Ward 14 where Dzimbasekwa Village falls under, Fagio Marowa confirmed the incident and expressed shock.

“The incident is very unfortunate and shocking .We have been robbed of a future leader.We have no proper literature to describe this shocking incident .
“It has to do with issues of mental health which needs to be addressed improtu,” said Clr Marowa.

The incident left a dark cloud hovering over Dzimbasekwa Village under Chief Nyajinha.
