Top banker Tamayi walks scot-free as court withdraws charges
Harare- RENOWNED businessman and former top banker Lawrence Tamayi is now a free man after the Magistrate’s Court withdrew charges against him before plea in a case he was accused of trespassing and theft at his property in Mt Pleasant.
Tamayi was arraigned before the magistrate courts after he was accused of trespassing and theft by his tenant Malvern Chimutashu.
It was alleged that Tamayi went to his property without the knowledge of his tenant.
Chimutashu then pressed trespassing and theft charges against his landlord.
However, the court withdrew the case before plea.
Chimutashu and Tamayi are locked up in another court battle at the Civil Court where the latter is claiming that the former’s company, EBA Insurance has defaulted paying rentals for over a year now.
Tamayi is claiming rentals of over US$10 000 from Chimutashu.
The case will be heard next week.
