Tagwirei ally Mugwisi kicked out of Trek Zim as new investors make grand take-over
Harare – BUSINESS mogul Kuda Tagwirei ‘s long time ally and Seventh Day Adventist church leader Innocent Mugwisi has been unceremoniously booted out of Trek Zimbabwe Petroleum, Express Mail Zim can reveal.
Mugwisi nicodemusly relinquished his position as managing director on December 31 last year according to our sources.
Investigations carried out by this publication established that a big company (name withheld) is set to takeover and the transaction has since been concluded.
In a statement,Trek Zim said:
“The Board and Management of Trek Zimbabwe formally announce to the market that the business has been acquired by another entity. The transaction, whose details cannot be revealed at this stage, has been successfully concluded and will boost our operations.”
“Trek Zimbabwe will continue to operate under the same name, despite the transition.
We would like to notify our customers that business continues as usual, as we fuel Zimbabwe towards the attainment of Vision 2030 of a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income economy. The business would like to thank its valued customers who have stood with it for a long time,” wrote Trek Management.
The new owners will maintain the goodwill for ease of operation and to avoid confusing the market with a possibility of however changing the logo, at least according to our sources.
Some industry players opined that this might be a calculated move to avoid been put on sanctions.
“Do not underestimate these Adventist boys and their undying passion for petroleum industry ever since the days of the late Eric Nhodza.
” Tagwirei himself had sell his house in the formative years of Sakunda and he can’t stand akimbo and watch his empire being put on sanctions.
“Trek is a creature created by Sakunda and Mugwisi was a mere Sakunda pawn and this departure and phoney takeover might have been deliberately crafted to evade sanctions.
“Look ,Chimuka (Obey) was the latest casualty and once bitten, twice shy (sic),” said an industry player who preffered anonymity.
Mugwisi is staunch SDA worshipper and late last year, in a sign of sycophancy, he accompanied Tagwirei to Solusi University where he donated vehicles to the institution.
Mugwisi could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was unavailable at the time of writing.
The new owners have interests in almost every sector of the economy but this is their first venture into petroleum.
