Sino-Zim trade relations reach zenith, with a surplus of US$1 billion exports posted in nine months

Harare- The intimate trade relations between Zimbabwe and China has reached it’s ‘orgasm’ and continue expanding with major strides with mutual benefits, Express Mail Zim can report.
According to statistics availed by the Chinese Embassy this week, in the first nine months of 2024, US$3 billion was posted in a sharp year on year increase.
“The year on year increase of 25.6%. Zimbabwe exported US$ 2.1 billion to China and imported US$951 million, with a trade surplus of US$1 billion,” partly read the statement .
The export of tobacco to China increased by 38.3% to 790 million US dollars in the period, accounting for 40.6% of the total export to China.

Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Mnangagwa, the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation is being strengthened, yielding fruitful results.
Several exchange programmes across all sectors have been held fostering relations between the two countries in line with the Look East policy that was adopted and adapted from the First Republic.
In 2013, the Chinese government launched the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which is a global infrastructure development strategy aimed to invest in more than 150 countries and international organizations..
The BRI is composed of six urban development land corridors linked by road, rail, energy, and digital infrastructure and the Maritime Silk Road linked by the development of ports and Zimbabwe will be part of the beneficiaries.
