Shamiso Entertainment signs ‘dormant’ musician Dino Mudondo
Harare- PINT sized musician Dino Mudondo is set to erupt like a dormant volcano following a deal he inked with global record label Shamiso Entertainment ,Express Mail Lifestyle can exclusively reveal.
Dino relocated to South Africa and took a five year longĀ hiatus focusing on other interests duringĀ the musical break.
He returned to the country last week and the ever jovial artiste was ecstatic to sign a deal with Shamiso – a record label that also served as an impetus to his musical growth in the rudimentary stages of his career.
In an exclusive interview with top banker and Shamiso Entertainment founder Gilbert Muvararirwa from his South Africa base , the media shy investor confirmed the development .
“Yes we signed Dino and we believe in his talent .
” He is up to big things and we will support him,” said Muvararirwa who has worked with American artistes , Salif Keita and one of the visionary for The Future album which gave birth to what was to be coined urban grooves music genre.
Dino grew up in Highfield in a family of four .
He attended Rusvingo primary school and proceeded to Ellis Robbins – he is a Fush alumni!
He cut his teeth in the industry in 2002 and recorded a single titled MakorokĆ³to produced by talismanic producer Delani Makhalima.
“I shot the video of Makorokoto at my sister Ivy’s wedding to Charles Mukaronda.
“I then dropped an album of the same name,” said Dino.
The album was laden with hits including Chirangano Chedu where he worked with Willom Tight and Rockford Josphats.
Basking in the glory of the album , in 2004 he dropped an album titled Makoikoi which had hits like Ndichakumirira which was a dedication to his ex-wife who was then based in the United Kingdom.
The song remains an inspiration to couples in long distance relationships especially in the era of ‘mjolo’- a coin name of extra marital affairs and ‘players and playetes’!
Dino has worked with the country’s best producers including Delani, Russo ,Oskid,Tyfah Guni, Maselo, the late great Fortune Muparutsa and the late TBA.
He is currently working with Zimbabwean born producer Elcee Gweja who is based in SA.
