Residents urged to preserve the beauty of the Greenwood Park after facelift

Harare- IN July 2023, leading property development company Westprop embarked on a project to turn Greenwood Park into a lifestyle theme park helping to complete the live, work, shop and play environment for the communities living around the park.

In that breadth, the children’s play centre was revamped and 14 friend benches were installed among other infrastructural development that gave the park a facelift.

However during the national clean up campaign carried out by the company’s staffers today , disturbing sights were noticed at the children’s play centre where some of the swings were vandalized.

In an interview with some caretakers by this publication, some adults reportedly frequented the children’s play centre.

“Well, we have no park security wardens so we can’t control some of these adults who visit the play centre and sit on the swings with their heavy weight causing the damage.

“Interestingly,Westprop erected some benches for adults where they can relax and enjoy the tranquil environment of the park,” said one of the caretakers who refused to be named.

In an interview, Westprop communications and public relations manager Michael Chideme urged residents to preserve the new look park and maintain its beauty and appeal.

Chideme said:
“We are a little taken aback by the vandalism on the new park property. We urge users to treat the benches as their own.
*We are moving to secure the benches and ask the council to deploy park wardens and security to preserve the property which is now public assets.”

Meanwhile, a Chitungwiza based vendor who identified herself as Danai joined the Westprop team in the clean up.

“I saw a newspaper article on the work Westprop was doing and being a person who loves clean environment I had to join them,” said Danai.
