Penhalonga- GOLD-rich Penhalonga based Redwing Mine is set to restructure and rehabilitate the mining field following a temporary suspension of operations effected last week, Express Mail Zim can report.
The mine is run by Better Brands Mining (PVT) LTD owned by award winning mining magnate Scott Sakupwanya who scooped the gold buyer of the year award last year.
The company ‘s General Manager Cuthbert Chitima communicated about the temporary suspension to stakeholders in a communique dated January 20.
“Better Brands mining hereby advises its valued stakeholders that all surface mining operations shall be suspended with immediate effect; mainly due to concerns in the increased number of fatalities, environmental degradation and constrained access controls,” read part of the communique.
It further read:
“Better Brands Mining shall take this opportunity to restructure and rehabilitate the mining field in preparation for resumption of surface and underground mining operations.
The mine was under judicial management and in 2022, the Interim Corporate Rescue Practitioner (ICRP) Knowledge Hofisi reimposed Better Brands to take over mining operations after he was satisfied with the company ‘s capability and financial stability.
