Rapper Luminous illuminates Shoko Festival

 

HARARE – IN the beginning was the word! 

Bulawayo based rapper Luminous  spit venom and showered light at Shoko Festival Thursday. ( Shoko can be literally translated to word). 

Born Tinashe Mtetwa, the wordsmith displayed prowess behind the microphone and sent the revelers into delirium. 

In an interview with Express Mail  Zim after his  set,  Luminous said:

 

“Shoko, Motto Republik is family to me,the bond that we built since the Oscan  challenge days, so when I come here it means a lot to do it with Family”

The rapper said he fell in  love with the Hip Hop genre  since childhood. 

“It’s almost like if you love isthwala_/sadza, you wanna learn (sic) how to make it yourself, so that’s more or less the same with me and music”

He’s been active in the music circles since 2016 but only got into serious mode in 2021 after winning the Motto Republic Oscan Challenge.

His hit song titled Regular released in 2021  topped the charts in Chicago , United Stafeshe also cites the late Calvin as his mentor.

“Harare definitely met Luminous,it’s our hope that he won’t follow the “Zimbabwean dream” and leave Zimbabwe because the ZimHip Hop movement definitely needs this rare gem.

The event was well attended and Noble Styles –  real name Prince Butawu was the master of ceremonies.
