Jinyang pulls a fast one on authorities ; provided fake Borrowdale Brook address leaving police crack team chasing shadows

Harare – Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa has this Friday issued Chinese businessman Su Jinyang with a warrant of arrest for failing to appear in court on attempted murder charges, Express Mail Zim can report.

The notorious businessman and suspected ‘criminal cartel’ leader Jinyang was charged with attempted murder as defined in Section 47 as read with Section with Section 189 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9.23.

He was charged along with his accomplices ex-convict Zhao Yunfeng and Hui Xiang.

The ‘cartel’ ringleader Jinyang- famed for terrorising fellow countrymen in the Chinese business community in Zimbabwe – supplied a wrong Borrowdale Brook address.

Express Mail Zim can reveal that the police crack team that went to arrest Jinyang in Borrowdale Brook Friday afternoon had to chase shadows as the address Jinyang provided upon arrest was fake.

As previously reported by this publication, circumstances are that on July 26 2024 at number 9 Cottenham Avenue in Greencroft, Jinyang and his alleged gangsters Yunfeng and Xiang unlawfully attempted to kill his business partner hitting him with wooden chairs and stepping on him, leaving him for dead.

Such details were echoed on court records.

The victim sustained head injuries and survived possible death by a whisker as outlined in the medical examination record that this publication had sight of.

Investigations by Express Mail Zim established that one of the accomplices Yunfeng is an ex- convict who served six years in prison and flew to Zimbabwe soon after his release and was immediately recruited into Jinyang ‘s suspected’ criminal cartel’ where they allegedly described Zimbabwe as a “jungle” and base for their illicit deals which involves smuggling chrome.

As previously reported by this publication, Jinyang and his acolytes are accused of unleashing a reign of terror on Chinese business community in Zimbabwe.

Investigations conducted by this publication established that Jinyang also uses one Zhang Xu as a front in his illicit operations where he uses the guise of a mining company called Qingu Investments.

The company is alleged to be at the centre of a complex syndicate involved in smuggling chrome ore to South Africa and other destinations through under declaration of volumes, which has prejudiced the State of millions of dollars in taxes and mining fees.

Chrome is one of the country’s main mineral exports after gold, platinum group
metals and diamonds.

Information gathered says the cartel works in connivance with local border control officials,Zimra
and Minerals Marketing Marketing Corporation (MMCZ).

The loot is then shipped to targeted destinations

“Jinyang is harassing any Chinese business competitor and he uses force to maintain monopoly and hegemony over mining, transporting and all deals you can think of.

” He says he is untouchable and linked to influential people and brags that Zimbabwe is a jungle where he and his cartel members can roam around freely,” said one of our multiple sources who preferred anonymity in fear of reprisal through Yang ‘s violent tactics.

Apart from terrorising his fellow countrymen who are in legit business in Zimbabwe , he is also accused of working in cahoots with unscrupulous officials from the Immigration Department to facilitate fake permits for non-qualified Chinese nationals.

“Yang brings his cartel members into Zimbabwe and facilitate fake permits and certificates through their connections at the Immigration department.

“He is also the mastermind of identity fraud where he facilitates identity theft and issues his cartel members names of existing people,” said another source who once worked with Yang at his Mutorashanga Chrome expeditions.

The source added that one of his cartel members Zhaoxi Wu died while using a forged identity forcing the Registrar General’s office to cancel his burial order and death certificate after detecting the fraud.

Yang is also accused of abusing and assaulting employees in Mutorashanga where he is notorious for skimming dangerous mine grabbing with his cartel.

He is said to have threatened fellow Chinese businessmen boasting of a financial muscle to hire hitmen if they compete with him.
