People’s Unity Party announces Congress date
The newly formed People’s Unity Party will hold a congress in August to elect its leadership, interim president Herbert Chamuka has said.
Chamuka who was the president for Ideas Party for Democracy before forming the new party said the new political kid on the block is a different formation in terms of ideas and policies.
“We had our leadership meeting today and we agreed that we will have our congress on August 27 to elect substantive leadership before the 2023 elections,” Chamuka said.
“We also agreed that the official color on our party regalia would be blue.”
The South African based politician also revealed that the party was going to take part in protests and demonstration in order to improve the lives of Zimbabweans.
“We have resolved to take part in protests. We know that the majority of Zimbabweans are suffering and one way to make the government hear people’s plight is to take part in demonstrations,” he said.
The part has also shelved it’s plans to lobby for a three year transitional government including all opposition players and the the ruling Zanu PF.
“In the past we had resolved that there should be an election in Zimbabwe for three years but as an interim leadership we now have resolved that we should prepare for next year’s election,” Chamuka said.
