Parliament shortlists 47 candidates for ZACC commissioner posts
Harare – The Parliament of Zimbabwe has shortlisted 47 candidates for public interviews set for next week to fill vacant anti-corruption commission posts.
The list include politicians, lawyers and prominent people in society who wish to sit in the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) as commissioners.
Notable candidates on the list include politicians Justice Mayor Wadyajena, Gabriel Chaibva, Zalerah Makari, Qubani Moyo, Tongai Matutu, and Kindness Paradza among others.
Other candidates include Wilbert Mandinde, Dorothy Mavalwane, Professor Albert Makochekanwa, Mavis Muzvidziwa, Tadson Zhou, Wendy Wenjere, Anele Ndebele, Resistant Ncube, Dr Tinashe Rukuni, Dr Qubani Moyo, Major Michael Santu (rtd), Loveness Mwase, Manuel Vakirayi Shiku, Rev. Kuziva Murapa, Jacob Nyokanhete and Terrence Mukuze among others.
ZACC said 145 candidates were nominated consisting of 112 Males and 33 Females.
The 47 candidates will be interviewed at the New Parliament building in Mt Hampden on December 19.
“All shortlisted candidates must be seated in
Committee Room Number 3 by 07:00hours on the day of the interviews. Candidates arriving
after the start of the interviews will be automatically disqualified,” the Parliament of Zimbabwe said in a statement.
“For members of the public wishing to follow the interviews, accommodation will be provided
in the Multi-Purpose Hall, New Parliament Building, Mt. Hampden. Additionally, interested
stakeholders can follow the day’s proceedings from home through various social media
platforms, including ZOOM, Twitter, and Facebook Live streaming.”
The ZACC posts became vacant after the expiry of the term of the previous commission.
The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders of parliament every five years selects 12 candidates to be submitted to the President. The President selects eight of the successful candidates as commissioners.
