Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr. Tamer Almassri has condemned the Israeli attack on Rafah as he said the attack will cause mass atrocities.
This comes after the Israeli Defence Forces has allegedly ordered Palestinians to evacuate the city as they prepare to launch an attack.
Rafah is a city in southern Gaza and the last place of refuge for about 1.4 million civilians displaced by the Israeli attack.
The civilians were allegedly ordered to evacuate from the eastern part of Rafah to nearby Muwasi despite the war in Palestine usually happening on the northern part of Palestine.
Almassri is calling on the international community and Israel’s allies to put an end to the attack.
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken also warned Israel to abort the plan as it would cause death of innocent civilians.
Dr Almassri emphasized that the Palestinian people will not leave their homeland and will continue to resist the Israeli occupation through all means necessary according to the international law to achieve their independent state.
He also said Israeli policies of genocide, and displacement will never liquidate the Palestinian cause but rather increase instability within the region and the world.
At least 34,683 Palestinians have been killed and 78,018 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 2023.
The Ambassador urged for immediate action to protect the civilians in Rafah and called for an end to the violence. He also emphasized the importance of achieving a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through diplomatic means. The international community has a responsibility to intervene and prevent further bloodshed in the region.
