In relation to several developments made in the Second Repub, this opinion is simply a microcosm of the macrocosm in regards efforts made by Second Republic for national economic growth.

Opinion by founding editor Nigel Tawanda Pfunde

THE Second Republic under President Mnangagwa has initiated several successful Presidential programmes/schemes meant to revive the livelihoods across all provinces and boost economic growth.

Most of these schemes were contracted to innovative and patriotic youthful businessmen who invested enormous amount of energy in sync with the mantra Nyika Inovakwa neVene Vayo/Ilizwe Lakhiwa Nabanikazi

Implemented was a comprehensive plan to revitalise the economy, improve infrastructure, and enhance social services under NDS1.

Express Mail Zim takes a sneak peak of some of the programmes youthful businessmen propelled forward ahead of the 2023 elections.

Presidential borehole drilling scheme (Paul Tungwarara)

The Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme is a program initiated by President Mnangagwa’s government to provide clean water to rural communities and urban areas in Zimbabwe.

Prevail International Group led by Paul Tungwarara was contracted to drill 10 000 boreholes and is been spearheaded by Zinwa.

To date, the Prevail Group has criss-crossed all provinces and managed to create at least 500 jobs and villagers can now access clean and portable water for drinking, irrigation, and livestock.

The program targets areas with limited access to clean water, aiming to improve public health, reduce water-borne diseases, and enhance food security through irrigation.
The scheme is part of the government’s efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6, which focuses on ensuring universal access to clean water and sanitation.

Presidential Goat Implementation Scheme (Moses Mpofu)

This was an initiative of President Mnangagwa and a wholly owned local company Blackdeck (owned by Moses Mpofu) entered into a contract with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development to supply goats over a five-year period.

Key Contract were chiefly to supply of goats amounting to 15,557 Mashona Buck, 16,444 Matebele Buck, 360,895 Mashona Doe, and
239,105 Matebele Doe over five years.

In the first year,Mpofu consulted his more experienced friend (in terms of business acumen) and supplied 3,113 Mashona Buck, 3,292 Matebele Buck, 72,179 Mashona Doe, and 47,821
Matebele Doe.

It scored a success although some suspected malcontents are said to be making attempts to soil the noble project.
Blackdeck is owned by Moses Mpofu and allegations of corruption are flying in his face but basing in the concept of presumption of innocence, he is not guilty until Zacc reaches its probe to finality like the respected anti graft body is reputable for.

Presidential Solar Scheme

This ambitious project was launched by Independent Power Producer (IPP) Prevail Group International (PGI) founded by Paul Tungwarara and after its initial phase of implementation ,it reduced pressure on Zimbabwe’s strained national grid and ultimately end ZESA’s never load-shedding policy.

The project saw PGI renting and installing solar panels on roofs of houses in Glen-View.

Power generated from the solar panels will then be sold to ZESA which in turn has agreed in principle to suspend load shedding in all areas that will be part of PGI’s initiative.

600 houses are being targeted in the pilot project that will cost US$1 million and generate no less than three megawatts.

Cars for the Zanu PF youths project (Wicknell Chivayo)

This project was a brainchild of businessman and Intratek director Wicknell Chivayo who set aside US$850 000 to acquire 100 Toyota Aqua vehicles were distributed to ZANU PF youths across the country’s 10 provinces.

Chivayo said the cars will be distributed randomly to ZANU PF youths who campaigned hard for the ruling party to secure victory in the 2023 harmonised elections.

Chivayo dished out cars to selected musicians and actors, said he will not stop, and wished that at least 10 local businesspeople emulated his “generosity”.

His generosity was however recently tainted via audio recordings that were leaked by unknown individuals.
The audios reportedly strained the relationship between him and the First Lady Amai Mnangagwa although those reports were unsubstantiated.

Mabvuku Road rehab and youth empowerment projects (Scott Sakupwanya)

Mabvuku-Tafara parliamentarian Hon Scott Pedzisayi Sakupwanya has been involved in mining development in Manicaland and has represented the country at major international forums.

He bought six refuse collection trucks and his own employees have now replaced Harare City Council’s services in Mabvuku-Tafara.

He also installed a street light at the ‘hot spot’ located at Mabvuku turn off.

Better Brands director Scott Sakupwanya

President Mnangagwa recently launched a National Anti-drugs Strategy and Sakupwanya has been taking youths off drug abuse through social soccer events at Number 7 grounds in Mabvuku to get the youths occupied .

Express Mail Zim can report that several other projects like Pfumvudza have been implemented to boost agricultural and infrastructure development under the Second Republic hence this opinion is simply a microcosm of the macrocosm in efforts made for national economic growth.
