Harare-: AWARD winning property development company West Property Friday joined the nation to commemorate National Clean- Up Day and helped to clean up Greenwood Park in the capital.
The company’s staffers joined hands with the park’s caretakers and removed the litter that was strewn all over the lawns in the park.
West Property also pledged to repeat the same feat every first Friday of each month for the whole year and to revamp some of the broken structures as part of it’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
There were calls for benches from citizens who passed through the park during the course of the clean up.
“We need benches in the park where we can sit and relax enjoying the nice green environment in the park like what we used to do,” said one passerby.
The company ‘s public relations and corporate communications manager Michael Chideme said his company was committed to get actively involved in the beautification of the city.
“We taking a deliberate stance to support the maintenance of Greenwood Park through our Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes.
“We feel we have a part to play in the beautification of the city in line with our mantra of Bring Dubai to Zimbabwe.
“We want the beauty of Dubai to transcend to Zimbabwe and as a company we will be cleaning Greenwood park every first Friday of each month in sync with the National Clean Up Campaign,” said Chideme.
“The National Clean Up day was declared by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on 2018 and it cements government ‘s commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The day is meant to create a clean,safe and healthy environment in places of work, religion, recreational, residential premises and promotes waste management.
