Music promoter Chipaz bans ‘Kodak moments’ at his shows

Harare-CELEBRATED music promoter Partson Chimbodza better known as Chipaz has given a warning shot to content creators who have a habit
of putting on record photographic or visual documentation of his music shows for zero fees,Express Mail Zim can report. In a statement issued Monday,Chipaz said content creators were fleecing him and pocketing money out of his promotions company investments.
He said:
“It has come to our attention that video graphers and photographers use our content that we have worked hard for to create.
“This content is now being used for personal gains and it is being used without our approval .
“So as a way to curb such unbecoming behaviour we will not allow any form of recording during our shows .
“Anyone who wishes to record must make prior arrangements with our team before the actual date of the function,” said Chipaz in a subtle informal gag order.
Chipaz’s fears arise from his oncoming gig of the late Soul Jah Love who still commands a legion of fans even in his grave.
Chipaz is arguably one of the most outstanding promoters who have catapulted the Zim dancehall genre to stardom and recognition. He however at a point in time threw in the towel and concentrated on his mechanics business at P&M Motors. Music critics who spoke to Express Mail Zim on condition of anonymity said Chipaz’s sudden phobia of cameras emanates from his horrific Sting Show held at City Sports Centre and was marred by violence and he is not keen to have such ugly incidents to be visually documented.
