Murambinda Vibrant with Pre-Independence Celebration Hustle
In anticipation of the nation’s 44th Independence Day celebrations, Murambinda Growth Point, typically tranquil, has transformed into a hive of activity with construction projects underway.
Heavy-duty trucks crisscrossed the area, kicking up clouds of dust as road rehabilitation and critical infrastructure construction proceeded at full steam.
A significant development is the construction of a new stadium at Murambinda B Secondary School, providing employment opportunities for locals. Contractors have already completed the groundwork for two foundations, earmarked for changing rooms and ablution facilities.
Additionally, preparations are underway for the opening of a new quarry mine just under 2 kilometers from Murambinda, aligning with President Mnangagwa’s vision to decentralize national events and foster community development.
This year’s Independence Day celebrations, themed “Zim@44: Unity, Peace and Development Towards Vision 2030”, mark a historic moment for Murambinda as it hosts the national Uhuru festivities for the first time.
Gracious Bundo, a widow employed as a general hand at Murambinda A Primary School, expressed her gratitude for the employment opportunities created by the stadium construction, echoing sentiments of excitement among locals.
Moses Chabepa hailed the bustling activity as a testament to the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive development, echoing the ethos of “leaving no one and no place behind.”
Local businessman and former teacher, Mushayabasa Chifuruse, highlighted the manifold benefits the Growth Point stands to gain from the celebrations. He emphasized the opportunity to engage directly with the President on various issues, while also expressing appreciation for infrastructure projects like the Marovanyati Dam and the economic boost it has provided to local businesses.
Preval Group International, spearheading the Presidential borehole scheme, has commenced installing solar-powered boreholes in the area. Group Chairman, Dr. Paul Tungwarara, affirmed their commitment to empowering the local community, aiming to establish 50 business units by Independence Day celebrations.
As Murambinda gears up to host the nation’s Independence Day festivities, the flurry of activity underscores a promising future for the Growth Point, fueled by community development initiatives and government support.
