Mnangagwa reassigns ministers,Chitando bounces back as Mines Minister

Chitando is the best man for the mining portfolio,says analysts

Harare- PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has re-assigned two ministers and the development saw Winston Chitando bouncing back as Mines minister.

This was released by Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) Martin Rushwaya Wednesday.

“In terms of Subsection 1 of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has reassigned the under-listed ministers as follows: Hon Daniel Garwe, Minister of Local Government and Public Works; Hon Winston Chitando, Minister of Mines and Mining Development; Hon Zhemu Soda, Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities,” read the statement.

Political analysts said Mnangagwa’s move was well calculated and strategic .

“Mnangagwa’s move was well calculated, Soda was not fit and proper for the Mines ,besides not having 5 Olevels he cannot supritend a ministry that is one of the four pillars of the economy.

“Chitando has a wealth of experience in mining having taken Mimosa Mines to dizzy heights as its chief executive for years,” said South Africa based political analyst Tawanda Benie .
