Mnangagwa puts the ‘icing on the cake’ as curtain comes down on Zim Afro T10 cricket tourney

Harare-THE nine day long Zim Afro T10 tournament second edition ended yesterday with a dazzling final and closing ceremony presided over by President Mnangagwa.

The final was played under floodlights and won by the Sikandar Raza captained team Joburg Bangla Tigers who edged Cape Town Samp Army in a breathtaking encounter.

President Mnangagwa hailed the organisers led by Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk (chairman of T Ten Global Sports) for believing in Zimbabwe as a destination for sport investment. .
“Your belief in Zimbabwe ‘s potential contributes to the growth of our nartion and the international recognition of Zimbabwe as a destination for business and sport,” he said.

T10 cricket is a new format of fast paced cricket that has taken the globe by storm with Zimbabwe being one of the only six countries that has caught the eye of T Ten Global Sport.

Mnangagwa also thanked the diasporan community for luring investors into the country.

Over 60 international cricket players from as many as 13 different countries took part in the Zim Afro T10 tournament this year. Zimbabwean players were also part of the six franchise teams that competed this year.

The tournament buttressed the country’s growing profile as a cricket nation and the high profile visitors including sport afficianados, businessspeople and investors were treated to five-star hospitality.

Entertainment was provided by Jah Prazah who had a good day in the office.
