Mnangagwa congratulates Kenya president elect Ruto
Harare- PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent a congratulatory message to Williams Ruto- the Kenyan president elect.
“Congratulations to Williams Ruto on his election as the next President of Kenya.I have no doubt he will serve his country,his people and our continent with distinction,” wrote Mnangagwa on his official Twitter handle.
Ruto romped to victory and defeated Raila Odinga in a tightly contested race.
About 65 percent of Kenya’s 22 million registered voters came out to vote in the election, in which the economy and high cost of living were key issues. The number was lower than expected amid widespread youth disenchantment.
In 2017, about 78 percent of the electorate cast ballots.
