Project set for completion July 31
Harare- TRANSPORT and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has announced that construction work on the Mbudzi interchange project in Harare is now at 55% completion and US$45 million has been poured into the project thus far,” Express Mail Zim can report.
On Monday, Mhona led a progress assessment tour of the US$88 million interchange construction. He highlighted that the project is expected to be completed by the 31st of July this year.
The interchange has 13 different bridges on site that are at various completion stages.
“We had intended to finish by March. But because of the process of compensating property owners, we are moving. I was given a date, but myself, I set my own date, which is quite important in terms of focusing. 31st July this year, we must have our interchange. All things being equal,” Mhona said.
“We have started working 24/7.
The project is being financed through a loan from the local Fossil Mines Private Limited, the parent company of Fossil Contracting.
Mhona said the loan facility had favourable payment conditions.
“So far, we are at US$45 million that has been used on this particular project. I’m sure that you understand the funding modalities. That treasury is a loan facility.
“The good thing is that we have got favourable payment terms.
“In terms of completion, we are at 55%. But in terms of bridges, they are at various stages,” he added.
A consortium named Tefoma Construction, consisting Tensor Systems, Fossil Contracting, and Masimba Construction is executing the project.
