Memories of Zimbabwe’s Armed Struggle Trust Partners with Watervlei Burial Park to Honor War Veterans
Harare, Zimbabwe – The Memories of Zimbabwe’s Armed Struggle Trust (MOZAST) is proud to announce its partnership with Watervlei Burial Park, a state-of-the-art cemetery development located just 11 kilometers from Harare’s city center.
This partnership underscores MOZAST’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of Zimbabwe’s war veterans. As part of this collaboration, Watervlei Burial Park has reserved a special section, the War Veterans Memorial Garden, to provide dignified burial spaces for these national heroes.
MOZAST is deeply grateful for this opportunity to partner with Watervlei Burial Park. This initiative reflects MOZAST’s respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by Zimbabwe’s war veterans, and MOZAST is committed to ensuring that their contributions to Zimbabwe’s freedom are never forgotten.
The War Veterans Memorial Garden will be designed to provide a serene and peaceful environment for families to pay their respects. MOZAST will work closely with Watervlei Burial Park to ensure that the garden is developed in a way that honors the memories of Zimbabwe’s war veterans.
A key feature of the War Veterans Memorial Garden will be a war museum, which will showcase the history and struggles of Zimbabwe’s liberation war. This museum will serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by Zimbabwe’s freedom fighters.
Furthermore, MOZAST and Watervlei Burial Park are committed to accommodating the remains of freedom fighters currently buried on foreign soil. With the assistance of the government, we plan to repatriate these heroes and provide them with a dignified final resting place in Zimbabwe.
This project is not limited to Harare, but is part of a regional initiative to honor Zimbabwe’s war veterans. Our next project is already targeted for Bulawayo, and we look forward to working with stakeholders in other regions to replicate this initiative.
Watervlei Burial Park is a 77-hectare facility that combines traditional values with innovative burial approaches. The park features mausoleums, cremation and embalming services, and a range of other facilities designed to provide a dignified and respectful experience for families.
The burial park has received full approval from the City of Harare for land usage and burials, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
The partnership between MOZAST and Watervlei Burial Park is a significant step forward in honoring Zimbabwe’s war veterans. MOZAST is proud to be part of this initiative and looks forward to working together to create a lasting tribute to these national heroes.
