Mai Mujuru in surprise Uhuru celebrations appearance in her hometown

Mt Darwin – FORMER Vice president Joice Runaida Mujuru (nee Mugari) made a surprise move and graced the 43rd Uhuru celebrations in her hometown in Mt Darwin.

Mai Mujuru was given a warm reception in the VIP section by the presidium of the party that kicked her out in 2015.

She was kicked out of Zanu PF in a brutal purge that also claimed the scalp of those individuals suspected of planning to unseat the late former president Robert Mugabe.

She allegedly led a faction popularly known as Gamatox which was said to champion a subservive activity that was planning a coup de tat.

She then formed her own political party National People’s Party which however suffered a stillbirth.

Mai Mujuru was married to the late army commander General Solomon Mujuru and is famed for her heroic antics including downing a plane during the liberation war.

This claim was later to be disputed by Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa who cited “selective amnesia” and said that part of history was fallacious.

Her gracing of the Uhuru celebrations was praised by political analysts who said it was a sign of maturity and patriotism.

” Mai Mujuru’s gracing of the Uhuru celebrations is a sign of maturity from a great liberator who hails from the same province where government decided to take the celebrations to,” said Tawanda Kasuso a political scientist.

The celebrations will also see two of the country’s biggest football clubs Dynamos and Highlanders battling it out in the field of play ay Mt Darwin Secondary School.

The Battle of Zimbabwe match was postponed from its scheduled fixture at Barboufields Stadium.

The Second Republic has scored several milestone infrastructure developments including dams, bridges and road rehabilitation under the able leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
