Kwekwe- TWO Kwekwe siblings lost USD2000 to three armed robbers in the mining towafter the trio masqueraded as stranded motorists,Express Mail Zim has heard.
The incident occurred Monday at Truckers Inn when the robbers approached the two brothers identified as Edson and Kidson Kutyauripo pretending that their car had a tyre puncture.
It was no ‘kids game’ as one of the brothers Kidson was hit by an iron bar and the robbers made good with USD2000 that was stashed in the brothers’ car.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident which comes hot on the heels of the capture and subsequent shooting of nine notorious robbers in Harare last week.
The robbers are alleged to have been behind a spate of armed robberies in and out of Harare.
“The two brothers got out of their car intending to help the three but one of them dre out an iron bar and started beating up the Kutyauripo brother’s.
“They were searched in the car and USD 2000 was stolen,” said Mahoko.
The ZRP is currently on a blitz to weed out armed robbers and reports say there was a ‘cops and robbers’ shootout in Arcadia,Harare Tuesday mid morning although ZRP is yet to issue out finer details of the incident.
