Jacaranda Festival closes on a Gospel tip
As normalcy prevails and outdoor events have been given the green light, the much anticipated Jacaranda Festival will have multi award winning gospel artist Janet Manyowa closing off the show.
The Zadzisa hitmaker will have a chance to serenade, maybe even convert non believers to believers, after all she has the voice coupled with the lyrics.
On that same day she will be in the company of Zonke, Dj Fresh, Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, DJ Chiweddar, Jazz sensation Victor Kunonga and legendary Djembe Monks.
Organisers of the Jacaranda are on record defending the inclusion of more international acts as compared to locals.
In an interview with Expressmail Zim, Walter Manyanya, one of the organisers had this to say:
“As we roll back into normalcy from the pandemic we found it easier to look within the region for acts that would complement the local acts.
“The festival is growing with each year so we look forward to reaching out to the rest of Africa and beyond.”
Manyanya went on to pay homage to the sponsors of this prestigious event.
“We are so excited to have our title sponsor Stanbic Bank and the anchor partners Cimas, TDW, Coca Cola and Nyaradzo SEAL responding to calls to support the creative economy of Zimbabwe.
“This is how creatives and business can converge for the bigger picture that will see more and more events benefiting from partnerships of this nature,” he said.
The last edition was much smaller in attendance because of Covid restrictions and was held indoors.
“We are back outdoors and we no longer have Covid restrictions so this means that a lot of dynamics change like production, sound and lights and the overall experience of the festival to those who will attend,” he said.
“We have been encouraged by the uptake of tickets because this helps us to plan the event based on actual numbers.”
The three-day festival scheduled for Old Hararians Sports Club is largely dominated by South African performers as headliners.
The first day will see South African DJ Zinhle sharing the stage with the likes of Shaback the Band, Fusion 5 Mangwiro, Anita Jaxson, Morda, Enzo Ishall, King Her and Chucknosis Monster DJ.
The second day on 8 October 2022 will see two of South Africa’s sought after acts — Zakes Bantwini and Bongo Maffin on stage as well as Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah, Gwevenzi, Mwenje Mathole, Solution GC, Feli Nandi, African Strom and Mary Anibal performing.
The third and final day is where Gospel Diva, Janet Manyowa seals off the show alongside renowned aforementioned artists
