Inter-Africa plunged into mourning after losing driver

Harare – ONE of the country’s leading transport operators Inter – Africa last week plunged into mourning after losing one of its long serving drivers Lazarus Mawoyo in dramatic circumstances that left fellow staffers praising him for his safety instincts.
Mawoyo plied the Harare-Nyanga (Avilla) Route and he collapsed and died behind the wheels of the stationary bus which was in the loading bay.
Intresting circumstances are that Mawoyo reportedly asked the passengers to disembark and board another bus, minutes before his demise.
His safety instincts served as a premonition of his death and saving lives of passengers in the process.
“Mdara Mawoyo was a very careful and instinctive guy who worked well with us,” said a colleague.
Express Mail Zim contacted company director Leonard Mukumba who described Mawoyo as a hardworking and humble driver.
“Well, he just collapsed and I suspect sugar diabetes or high blood pressure.
” He was very hardworking and very humble.
“We grieve with his family and have them in our prayers,” he said.
Mukumba said the company will support the family. financially and emotionally.
Management also issued a death notice.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Inter Africa, Driver Mr Lazarous Lazarus T Mawoyo of Harare – Nyanga (Avilla) Route
” Let us remember the Mawoyo family in our prayers.
May his dear soul rest in eternal peace,” read the notice.
Lately, Inter Africa has been holding refresher courses on road safety to its drivers as encouraged by the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe.
