Insane for trial, but sane to hold Senatorial post? Mupfumira sworn in…

Harare:Controversial former Public Service Minister Prisca Mupfumira is officially back in the political trenches.

The axed Minister was sworn in Thursday as a Senator.

Mupfumira famously evaded trial barely five years ago after claiming insanity.

She was accused of embezzling US$95 million from the NSSA pension fund.

The former National Social Security Authority (NSSA) boss was the first cabinet minister to be shown the exit door by President Emmerson Mnangangwa following the alleged US$95 million scandal.

In a statement, Mnangagwa announced her dismissal: “…For conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister ”
This was after The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commision (ZACC) had arrested and charged the politician for corruption.

She allegdly diverted pension funds to finance her lavish lifestyle and political campaigns.

Mupfumira will form part of the 280 National Assembly members.
