Hon Machakaire throws weight on St Johane Marange’s fight against drug abuse

Macheke: Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation Honourable Tinoda Machakaire has applauded Johane Marange Church for heeding the call by Government to fight against substance abuse by investing in building more schools to provide more learning spaces for children thereby keeping them off the streets.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of St Johane Primary and Secondary schools heldat Kasipiti Grounds in Macheke ,Hon Machakaire commended the church for fighting hand in glove with Government to curb the abuse of drugs:”With the rate of drug abuse growing in Zimbabwe, the St Johane Marange Church is one of the churches that has remained resolute in fighting against drug abuse”

The Johanne Marange church has 10 operational schools and 16 schools still under construction.

” Today we applaud Johane Marange Church for being the first church which has no result of young people resorting to drug and substance abuse,” he said.

He further added that the building of two more schools in the area shows the church’s commitment to champion the provision of education to the masses:

“For the longest time , Johane Marange church has been accused of not allowing its children to go to school, but that has changed as evidenced by the construction of two more schools in this area,” said Hon Machakaire

,Recently, Government availed $500 million under the drug and substance abuse mitigation fund as part of efforts by the Second Republic to speed up high-impact activities in the fight against drug and substance abuse amongst the youths.
