Heavy rains destroy the only link between Zarova and CMB Growth point as Sesame Bridge is swept away
Gokwe:Sesame bridge ,which connects Gokwe North and South in the Midlands Province has been completely swept away in the heavy downpours.This bridge is also the only link between Zarova rural area and the growth point CMB.Use of alternate routes has been advised for travellers.
On his official X account,Nick Mangwana,Secretary for Infomation,Publicity and Broadcasting services confirmed the u fortunate incident:
“Sesame Bridge which links Gokwe North and South has been destroyed by the incessant rains. Travelers should be aware,” said Mangwana.
The devastation brought about by the flooding, which has rendered many families homeless, has been exacerbated by the bridge’s destruction.
The worry amongst residence and travellers in the Gokwe South area now lies on the fate of other bridges like, svisvi river bridge, Tare river bridge, gwave river bridge,in he wake of these incessant heavy downpours.
This comes after the Department of Civil Protection revealed that the country’s heavy rains, which are falling in most districts, have caused damage to a number of houses, some of which have collapsed.
