Govt raises red flag over Solutions Motors murky vehicle supply deals
Harare- GOVERNMENT has raised a red flag over irregular operations at Solutions Motors , Express Mail Zim can reveal.
The company’s core-business is procuring motor vehicles and has been cherry picked for government tenders due to strong political connections .
Impeccable sources told Express Mail Zim that the company was contracted to supply ambulances but failed to make good.
“These guys have strong political connections and they get tenders to supply government with vehicles but they don’t deliver.
“Treasury has taken note of this malpractice and there is a lot of bickering within government as camps have emerged with some fighting on Solutions Motors camp,” said our source who preffered anonymity.
The Auditor-General Mildred Chiri revealed that the company failed to deliver vehicles ordered by government as far back as 2017 despite the fact that it had received advance payment.
The company is further alleged to have duped the Information Ministry where the company was paid about ZW$47m to supply seven Toyota GD6 double cabs, four Datsun Go vehicles and one Renault K-wid.
In a shocking development they only supplied four Datsun Go and one Renault K-wid vehicles were delivered, causing the ministry to suffer a prejudice of about ZW$33m.
It however boggles the mind why government kept on giving them tenders giving credence to reports that they have a strong backing from bigwigs.
Solutions Motors managing director Patrick Siyamwaya poured cold water on all the allegations and insisted that all their operations are above board.
“We never flouted any tendering procedures as being alleged. We participated in open bidding process and won the tender after due diligence was done.
“We have never supplied a single ambulance in the country,” he said.
