‘Gold mafia’ Ewan Macmillan apologises for deregatory statements, blames it on alcohol

TOP businessman and gold dealer Ewan Macmillan who featured prominently in the Al Jazeera documentary series (Gold Mafia) has apologised and blamed his deregatory and unsubstantiated statements on alcohol,” Express Mail Zim can report.
Popularly known as Mr Gold, Macmillan fervently apologised for his boastful character and name dropping in the four part documentary series.
“I would like to apologise to my family, to my friends, to fellow Zimbabweans and all those that I offended in my behaviour and comments as shown in the recent Al Jazeera Gold Mafia series,” he said in a signed but undated statement.
“I made my statement under the influence of alcohol that were boastful, untrue, derogatory, malicious that have caused harm to those around me, those in business with me, in the industry that I work in ,to those in the Zimbabwe banking and financial sector and those doing their jobs in Government.
“I have embarrassed myself and them and I am very sorry,” he said.
The 52-year old businessman was approached by undercover Al Jazeera journalists who were posing as gangsters and were seeking to launder millions of cash.
Unsuspectingly , Macmillan boasted of being connected to high offices and made racial slurs and a cocktail of derogatory utterances.
All these claims were not backed by evidence and hence he has finally apologised for spewing lies to the world.
The Midlands based gold dealer is no stranger to controversy , he was once arrested for alleged illegal gold deals in the 1990s at a tender age of 21.
