Geo-Pomona Ceo Nguwaya conferred doctorate

Besides philanthropy, businessman turns dumpsite to sporting facility

Harare- Astute businessman Dr Dilesh Nguwaya has turned lemons to lemonade , a dumpsite into a top notch sporting facility and his efforts have been recognised by the International Institute of Philanthropy (IIP) conferring him with an honorary doctorate.

Express Mail Zim witnessed the conferment ceremony Wednesday, where Dr Nguwaya was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters (DHL) .

International Institute of Philanthropy country representative Dr Enrico Maverick led the proceedings.

IIP is famed for recognising the greatest contributions to humanity and philanthropy having conferred same to the late national hero Dr Oliver Mtukudzi.

Dr Maverick told attendees that doctorates celebrate individuals who exhibit behavioural traits that are inclined with making positive change to the world.

He added that IIP is a global network of individuals who believe that individuals should be celebrated for the contributions that they make to humanity.

Dr Nguwaya was ecstatic over the development and outlined how the dumpsite transformed both infrastructure and livelihood of citizens.

“I deserve this honor because we worked hard at the Pomona dumpsite transforming it from a hazardous place. When Geo Pomona took over, we transformed the place to become a liveable place where everyone can come and dine,” he said.

“Who would think that a dumpsite would be turned into a sporting fäcility”

Other beneficiaries include popular musician and businessman Mudiwa Hood,
Eislene Sibanda, Togarasei Kugotsi and Tichagara Scott Mudavanhu.
