Game-changer: City Parking gets mandate to enforce parking by-laws
Harare- HARARE City Council (HCC) has mandated City Parking to enforce parking and traffic by-laws within Harare effective Thursday,Express Mail Zim can report.
The mandate includes clamping ,fine ticketing and fine collection on parking.
In a statement, City Parking said they will work jointly with the HCC in traffic enforcement.
“We will work closely with Harare City Council in traffic enforcement in and around Harare,” read part of the statement.
Prior to this development, HCC was mandated to legally enforce traffic by-laws and City Parking was merely managing parking and revenue collection. .
City Parking is therefore now mandated to enforce only two sections of the Traffic by-laws.
” Even if we were owed by defaulting motorists,we would have to wait for HCC to release the funds.
“The public administrator is the body mandated to enforce the traffic by-laws,” said an inside source.
