Former Shurugwi mayor Henry Rushwaya dies

Some of his daughters include 'iron ladies' Henrieta, Helliate founding president of ZMF and ZBC board chair respectively

Gweru- FORMER mayor of Shurugwi Henry Rushwaya has died.

He was aged 88.

Rushwaya was a nurse by profession and he died Monday in Gweru after a long illness.

He was born on May 4 1936 and trained as a nurse at Harare Hospital in the early 60s.

Mourners are gathered at Kenilworth Farm Somabhula and he will be buried this week.

In an interview with Express Mail Zimone of his daughters Henrieta Rushwaya, the founding president of the Zimbabwe Mining Federation thanked relatives and friends for coming in their numbers to celebrate her father’s send off.

“He has not been in a good shape especially in these past two weeks.

” I’m naturally hurt but I also celebrate his life.

“He empowered myself and my siblings with education and we are grateful and it is now our turn to maintain his legacy, ” said Henrieta.

Helliate Rushwaya former ZBC board chairperson

Rushwaya is also father to former ZBC board chair Helliate and it appears he ‘seeded’ well with his daughters thriving and dominating in the phallocentric society.
