Harare- WHEN Peter Ndlovu bursted (sic) into the scene in 1991 I was doing form 3 at Churchill.
I remember a year later when we were playing for the 1st team everyone wanted jersey number 12 because of Zongo….we were all obsessed with jersey number 12….when I started at Blackpool Jersey number 12 was free and it was going to be my number for the rest of my career…”12 wemaTonga”as they used to call me then at Blackpool…I used to feel soo comfortable and confident when I put on that number 12 jersey…later everytime I negotiated a contract the jersey number 12 was always part of the negotiations….my whole career and everywhere I played it was always number 12 or nothing except at the National team because Peter was also there .My original autogramm (sic) signature always ended with a 12 at the end …sometimesyou would meet people in town wearing this special number 12 …if Influence was a person.
Peter changed a lot of lives in my generation….I’m giving you your flowers whilst you are still alive .
