Fired AAG president Mike Chimombe implicated in US$17 000 botched residential stand deal

Harare- FLAMBOYANT businessman and leader of splinter indigenous empowerment lobby group Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) Mike Chimombe is implicated in a US$17 000 botched residential stand deal, Express Mail Zim can report. Chimombe and his two accomplices Steven Chimombe and Hermysh Katsande are alleged to have duped an unsuspecting homeseeker and double allocated a Tynwald stand to one Brian Marungamise and Benedict Mataga.
The alleged fraudulent matter was reported under reference number CR787/03/22 at Harare Central Police.
The complainant Marungamise is said to have paid US$17 000 to the fired Affirmative Action Group president Chimombe at his Morton Jeffery offices which houses his Millytake Enterprises company in Eastlea. The unsuspecting homeseeker was guranteeed a stand by the smooth talking and lanky businessman and the transaction was effected in 2020.
The sinister motive behind the dubious parcelling out of this land came to light in 2021 when the unsuspecting homseseeker wanted to develop what he believed to be his legitimate land.
According to official documents gleaned by Express Mail Zim dated July 26 , one Mataga claimed that the same land was allocated to him by Rawson Properties after full payment and Chimombe acknowledged what he termed as a ‘mix up’. According to the documents, Chimombe then allocated the victim another piece of land in the same area but he suffered the same fate and declined what he deemed as fake promises of developing another piece of land under ‘security’ that Chimombe had promised.
Using his proxy Katsande of Millytake Enterprises , a company owned by Chimombe, the syndicate lured the unsuspecting homeseeker Marungamise to top up US$4 000 and get another residential stand in Waterfalls.
He paid half of it but the Millytake Enterprises crew became evasive forcing him to make a police report of fraud as specified in Section 136 of the Criminal law (Codification and Reform Act) Chapter 9.23.
Nothing was recovered.
Controversy has trailed Chimombe like a shadow following an outburst by an AAG member only identified as Simbanegavi who sensationally alleged that EEG was a rebellious formation, formed to push personal agendas.

“I respect Cde Chimombe, but am strongly against the fraudulent advisers surrounding him. In case you did not know, EEG was not Mike’s idea, but he is just being used as the face of EEG in order to lure publics somehow.”

Simbanegavi singled out former AAG Mashonaland West chairman, Tapiwa Chikondowa, as corrupt.

“I will mention Tapiwa Chikondowa as a bad leader, obviously to the surprise of many, because l saw it during his time how he would fend for money in the pretext of AAG programmes, but for all the moneys collected, he never accounted for a single dollar. Moneys have been collected in the name of AAG by the same person, but many may not know where these funds ended up,” he alleged.

Chikondowa and Chimombe could not be drawn to comment at the time of writing.

Chimombe and his new grouping also stand accused of hijacking the Empower Bank facility, meant to uplift youths.

However, Chimombe’ s loyalists argued that AAG founder was turning the Empowerment lobby group into a family trust organisation. Chimombe and AAG founder Philip Chiyangwa used to be have a hand-in- glove relationship but sources say they fell out when Chimombe developed a habit of extorting money using AAG’s name, throwing it into disrepute in the process.
The youthful businessman is believed to own vast properties in Mashonaland West.
His love life also makes it to the razz matazz in the lifestyles of rich and famous after he allegedly impregnated his wife’s younger sister.
