“I was preparing to leave the room for breakfast when the fire alarm rang and I had to jump out wearing my boxer shorts and left my girlfriend behind.
“It was one man for himself scenario my brother.
“I could not afford to die like General Solomon Mujuru and leave my dear wife and kids. So when we got to the assembly point near the emergency exits, I was relieved that there was no fire at all but the corridor was a hive of activity as people ran for their lives,” narrated a middle-aged guest who preffered anonymity.
Hotel management were not reachable for comment at the time of writing
However, high possibility is that it could have been a routine fire drill usually carried out by hotels within the premises.
This practice is of great importance to customers, staff
and service providers’ well-being in the event of an emergency.
It also help the hotels to evaluate their state of preparedness.
