EXCLUSIVE: Estate wrangle looms over late hero Chidawu’s properties as son is barred from body viewing

Chinhoyi- AN estate wrangle looms over the late national hero Oliver Chidawu’s vast properties following the barring of his son Oliver Nyashadzashe from body viewing Friday,Express Mail Zim can exclusively reveal.
This publication can authoritatively report that Chidawu’s widow Spiwe ordered security to bar Nyashadzashe who was born out of wedlock, from viewing his father’s lifeless body at the couple ‘s Chinhoyi farm.
The teenager was sired by the late national hero with his concubine Susan Chikomba who resides at 10 Colesbury Avenue, Avonlea in the capital.
He was born on December 12 2007 and the incident sent tongues wagging with some relatives saying a massive estate wrangle will ensure.
” The incident was humiliating, the son was very close to his late father and imagine the trauma that he will suffer from being barred and been embargoed at his father’s funeral,” said a close relative who spoke on condition of anonymity. This publication is in possession of a copy of the birth record certificate where Chidawu appended his signature as Oliver Mandishona on February 4 2009.
We also have in our possession his images in happier times with his son who was born at Avenues clinic.
The former Bancabc inaugural chairman, Harare mayor and founder of Heritage Insurance had two daughters Dadirai and Ropafadzo with Spiwe .
Dadirai was married to former Finance deputy minister Terrence Mukupe.
Affectionally known as OMC1, the late national hero was arguably one of the richest people in Zimbabwe. He served as a board member of Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited for more than a decade and his contribution made a turn around of the entity.
He is also credited for pulling off what was arguably the largest merger in the financial services sector in the country by using HIB as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to do a reverse takeover of Anglo’s FMB Holdings Limited and bring on board Bard Holdings, a diversified financial services boutique comprising ,inter alia a discount house and stockbroking firm. Chidawu will be laid to rest Monday at the national shrine.
Efforts to get a comment from his widow Spiwe hit a snag as her mobile phone was not reachable at the time of writing.
