Epworth North MP launches ambitious plan for 2025

Epworth: Member of Parliament (MP) for Epworth North,Mr Zivanai Mhetu, has launched an ambitious project for his constituency which includes road rehabilitation and water provision in 2025.

The opposition Legislator said his 2025 constituency plans are development centred and will also ensure that residents of Epworth North are able to secure title deeds for their properties.

He said the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will be used to drive development projects in his constituency. This, he said will be anchored on
transparency and accountability as well as wider consultations with residents.

“Part of my 2025 goals include rehabilitation of roads using the Constituency Development Fund as well as pushing for the provision of piped water in Epworth North Constituency. We will also push for the electrification of schools in Epworth North and ensure that residents are able to get title deeds,” said Mhetu.

The Legislator has already secured a commitment from Marondera City Council to supply Epworth North with water as soon as the necessary infrastructure is in place.

Last year, he was vocal in Parliament in pushing the Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) to extend
its exam registration deadline. This was after a sizeable number of students had missed the deadline due to financial constraints with Epworth North recording a large number of affected candidates.

The opposition law maker also reflected on his achievements for 2024.

“I managed to secure medication for Mabvazuva clinic from the Indian embassy and also introduced a funeral policy in conjunction with Old Mutual. This policy costs one dollar per month. I also pushed for regularisation in Epworth North Constituency,” said Mhetu.

As part of efforts to ensure citizen participation in Development efforts in Epworth North, Mhetu has also set up Constituency Development Committees
which will be key in identifying development projects in the constituency.
