Diasporan based businessman Mutumwa Mawere on road to recovery,family members chip in

Johhanseburg: THE family of Zimbabwean born South African based businessman Mutumwa Mawere have rallied together to ensure that the businessman continues to receive medical rehabilitation and treatment after he fell ill last year in June 2024.
The relatives have pooled resources and have been paying medical costs covering his medical rehabilitation and other related costs.
A close family member told our publication that Mawere is still undergoing physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as speech therapy and that he is recovering well. The relatives are happy with the progress which has taken place since the beginning of 2025.
“As you know the road to recovery is not a one day wonder but a process. It is a marathon not a sprint. He is recovering well and as a family we are happy with the progress. We are equally happy with the medical team assisting our relative and the general solidarity of the Mawere family,” said the family member. The family member informed our publication that on or about 28 January 2025
the family deposited the deposit as well as the payment for the monthly plan for the exclusive facility which is less than 2kms from his home. The facility offers executive rooms where the survivors are afforded the privacy of staying alone in the rooms. We have been shown the proof of payment of close to R200 000.00(two hundred thousand South African Rands) The family relative told us further that at the moment Mawere does not require to be admitted into any step-down facility as what some of his friends have been saying in public.
A close family member further said there were very few people who have visited Mawere since June 2024.
“Some of the friends who claim to be very close to Mawere last saw him in person before the beginning of 2024. The friends in question are pushing for Mawere to be admitted in a medical institution without any doctor having referred him to any step down facility. It seems this is a developing story and as the family, we are pushing for Mawere to move into the exclusive residence because the same friends who claim to be close to Mawere published his residential address to the public thereby exposing him to security risks,” said a family member
